On a sunny afternoon in autumn we met oneof Germany's leading graphic designers Jochen Rädeker. We sat in the shade ofan apple tree and discussed current and upcoming trends in design. Thisatmosphere of unfettered creativity inspired »An Apple a Day«, bringing you 365different kinds of apples, one for every day of the year. Images of old andsometimes forgotten apple varieties taken from historical books show thefascinating diversity of apples.
Jochen Rädeker designed a beautifultear-off calendar, each sheet showing a different apple variety. Every sheet isperforated so you can tear off the date and collect the images. We wanted tokeep the idea as »fruity« as possible so, after some time and speaking withseveral manufacturers, each and every calendar will be packed in a bespokewooden fruit crate that can be used afterwards to tidy up your desk, to collectthe apple images or, just in its original sense, to store a few apples, becausewe all know: An Apple a day …
